Lifestyle scene in the Valley vs Westside vs DTLA — where's the action?
LA is so spread out. Where is the lifestyle scene actually concentrated? We're trying to decide where to move and want to factor in lifestyle access. We're currently in Burbank and it feels isolated.
Best Answer
The LA lifestyle scene has a few hubs:
Hollywood/WeHo — This is ground zero. Club Joi and Club Labyrinth are both in this corridor. Most of the curated parties (Illuminaughty, etc.) happen in the Hills above Hollywood. If you want to be closest to the action, live in West Hollywood, Hollywood, or the eastern edge of Beverly Hills. Uber rides to clubs are under $15.
The Valley — Don't sleep on the 818. Sherman Oaks, Encino, and Tarzana have a surprisingly active house party scene. The couples tend to be slightly older (mid-30s to 40s), more established, and host amazing home parties with pools and hot tubs. You'll still need to trek over the hill for clubs, but the house party circuit is self-sustaining.
South Bay/Beach Cities — Manhattan Beach, Hermosa, Redondo have a pocket of lifestyle couples. It's a hike to Hollywood but the local house party scene is strong, especially in summer.
DTLA — Growing but still limited. A few private events pop up in Arts District lofts but it's not a hub yet.
From Burbank, you're actually not bad — 20-25 min to Hollywood clubs on a weekend night. Much better than someone in Long Beach or Pasadena.

We moved from Studio City to West Hollywood specifically for lifestyle access and it was a game-changer. We walk to Club Joi now. The neighborhood itself is open-minded and sex-positive, which is a nice bonus in your day-to-day life too. That said, the Valley gets way more house party invites — the homes are bigger and more party-friendly than WeHo apartments.
