We've been talking about going to Club Joi for months and finally have a free Saturday. It's our first time at a lifestyle club in LA. What should we expect? How packed does it get? What's the crowd like?

Club Joi on a Saturday is the flagship LA lifestyle experience. Expect a full house — 100+ people on a good night. The space is 10,000+ square feet with a dance floor, lounge areas, and multiple play areas ranging from private rooms to open spaces. The crowd is very LA — attractive, diverse, and well-dressed. You'll see everyone from entertainment industry professionals to Silicon Beach tech couples. Dress code is enforced: men need a collared shirt minimum, women usually bring both a cocktail outfit for early evening and lingerie for later. Doors open around 9pm but it doesn't really get going until 11pm-midnight. BYOB — bring a good bottle because the mixer selection is basic. Our biggest tip: don't rush to the play areas. Spend the first hour or two socializing in the lounge and on the dance floor. The connections happen there.

Saturday at Joi is great but can be overwhelming for first-timers because of the crowd size. If you want a slightly less intense introduction, their Friday night tends to be smaller and more intimate. That said, Saturday is where the energy peaks. Get on their email list for themed nights — the themed Saturdays draw the best crowds. Also, parking is street parking in a commercial area so Uber is honestly easier.

We've been going to Joi for 3 years and Saturday is consistently the best night. One thing nobody mentions: the temperature inside can get warm when it's packed, so ladies, plan your outfit accordingly. The ventilation is decent but with 100+ bodies and a dance floor, it gets steamy (literally). Bring a fan or wear something breathable. The play areas are better ventilated.
